Agency Newsletter – Summer 2018

Our Mission:

Kamali’i FFA is a treatment agency whose mission is to provide foster youth and young adults with quality trained foster families while providing individualized treatment services.  Goals of reunification and permanency are supported while empowering youth to be positive participants in their community.

On June 15th, Kamali’i Foster Family Agency will be holding its Inaugural Poker Tournament at the Lake Elsinore Casino at 6:40pm. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be given as financial scholarships to the four graduating seniors in recognition of their accomplishments and to further their education. We are proud to announce that (4) four of our foster youth will be graduating from high school this year. All four seniors have attended our H.O.P.E. Independent Living Program at least twice. One graduate has enlisted in the Army and three are planning on furthering their education by attending local community colleges. This is considered a huge success for our youth and families given that according to statistics provided by the John Burton Foundation 1 in 5 foster youth will become homeless after the age of 15; only ½ will be employed by the age of 24; and less than 3% will earn a college degree.  If you are interested in participating in this exciting event you can register at the following link:

Thank you to all of our community partners who volunteered their time to conduct Mock Interviews to our H.O.P.E. Independent Living Program participants.  We had representatives from the Lake Elsinore Storm, Circor Aerospace, Riverside County Public Health, Pulse Marketing, Pacific Western Bank, South County Realtor Young Professionals Network, Temecula Valley and Lake Elsinore Unified School Districts, The Assistance League of Temecula Valley, and a professional singer.  The ongoing support of our community partners show our foster youth that not only are their resource parents advocates for them but their community as well.

Kamali’i Foster Family would like to welcome our most recently converted and new Resource Families from this past quarter!

Our Kamali’i Kids Camp will be kicking off its summer activities on July 11th with our Fitness Camp for Wellness.  This 4 week camp takes place on consecutive Wednesdays at the Canyon Hills Sports Park.  Registration forms are available on our website on the Kamali’i Kids Club page.  We will be providing participants with a camp t-shirt as well as an awards ceremony and luncheon on the last day of camp.  We will also be having our Summer Reading Club from June 1st thru August 16th.  Participation forms are available on the Kamali’i Kids Club Page as well as registration forms for the It’s Sew Easy activities, which was brought back by popular demand.

We are so excited for Emilia Lopez Cabrera who was adopted by her forever family on November 28, 2017.  Emilia has been with the Cabrera family since she was 3 days old.  The adoption took just over a year but was well worth the time and efforts by all involved.  It will be a blessing to continue to see Emilia as she grows up in an loving home.
