Agency Newsletter – Fall 2017

Our Mission:

Kamali’i FFA is a treatment agency whose mission is to provide foster youth and young adults with quality trained foster families while providing individualized treatment services.  Goals of reunification and permanency are supported while empowering youth to be positive participants in their community.

Kamali’i Foster Family Agency is so stoked for one of our youth and foster parent who were chosen to participate in this years Dreaming of Aloha 2017 sponsored by Urban Surf 4 Kids.  The Dreaming of Aloha Achievement Program provides an opportunity for selected foster youth to experience and be engulfed in the surf mecca of the world, Hawaii.  Our foster youth was provided this opportunity through her community service, good behavior, maintaining good grades, and much more.  It’s not just a trip to Hawaii, it’s a chance of a lifetime to connect with youth in similar situations and similar life challenges, an opportunity to volunteer with Mauli Ola Foundation for a day, a non-profit dedicated to serving youth with Cystic Fibrosis. It’s a chance to participate in the opening of the Eddie Aikau ceremonies, learn more about Hawaiian culture, and so many things that can’t be put into words.  Several of our staff volunteer on a regular basis at Urban Surf and families should register for their upcoming events.  Registration information can be found through the following link: http://www.urbansurf4kids.org/

This summer was full of activities both indoors and out at Kamali’i Foster Family Agency.  We held our second Family Run/Walk Clinic where trophies were handed out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for the participant with the most laps completed over the 5 days.  The winner of 1st place totaled an amazing distance of 21 miles!  Participants received Kamali’i t-shirts donated by the Assistance League of Temecula and designed by our very own Mrs. “O”.

We held two separate craft days this year one in San Marcos at Charity Wings and the other at our offices in Lake Elsinore.  In San Marcos kids were able to express their creativity through paint as Jason and Charlene Parsons volunteered their time and expertise introducing several of our youth to their love of art.  Brain Avery lead Native American themed activities at the Lake Elsinore office providing kids with several projects made from both sticks and stones.  To see some of these awesome paintings and projects visit our Kamali’i Kids Club page.  https://www.kamalii.org/kamalii-kids-club/     .

The picture says it all!  Congratulations Ramirez family and your finalized adoption of Maliyah Flor Ramirez.  The Ramirez family has been a part of Kamali’i Foster Family Agency since January of 2013 and we have had the please of being able to see Maliyah welcomed into a wonderful home and family.  With three older brothers we are positive that she will be well looked out for.

Congratulations Bueno Family and the newest addition to the family.  It was a long and lengthy process but Summer could not have found a better family to be a part of.  From opening your home and hearts to a wonderful baby girl two years ago to finalizing a forever home we feel honored to have been a part of the process.

Kamali’i Foster Family Agency would like to recognize the Garcia family for providing Andrea Montserrat Garcia a forever home.  The Garcia family accepted Andrea into their family in August of 2015 at just under a month of age.  Mr. and Mrs. Garcia have committed themselves to parent Allie with love, dedication, and permanency.  We have seen Andrea grow from an infant to a very active and happy young child.  Congratulations!

What a perfect way to start the Father’s Day weekend for the Avery family.  The Avery’s welcomed Monserrat Joy Avery and her younger brother Charlie Matthew Avery into their family on this exciting day.  Monserrat, Charlie and the Avery’s are a very active family within the Agency and we are so privileged to have been a part of this family in the making, Congratulations!
