Agency Newsletter – Winter 2017/2018

Our Mission:

Kamali’i FFA is a treatment agency whose mission is to provide foster youth and young adults with quality trained foster families while providing individualized treatment services.  Goals of reunification and permanency are supported while empowering youth to be positive participants in their community.

CircorAerospacKamali’i Foster Family Agency was honored this year having been the chosen nonprofit organization of Circor Aerospace in Corona CA for their Christmas giving tree.  Over 80 individualized wrapped gifts were provided to children within the agency from employees at the facility office.   A special thank you to Elaine Kobel and Bran Avery for all their time and efforts in making this years Christmas a special one for some many.

To all the employees, staff and members of Pacific Western Bank in Temecula, California who participated in this years toy drive a huge mahalo (thank you)!  Bank members provided over 50 individualized wrapped gifts for our youth this holiday season.  Pacific Western Bank also donated this past year to our Agency’s H.O.P.E. Independent Living Skills program.
Members of the Southwest Riverside County Young Professionals Network donated over 50 Target gift cards for our teens and young adults.  Providing Christmas gifts to this population can be difficult and with the help of the SRCYPN and their understanding of young adults this years Christmas giving was a huge success.  We look forward to continuing to work with this organization in the future with our H.O.P.E. Independent Living Skills program.

Josh Stuhlmiller and his local community continue to support the children and families of Kamali’i Foster Family Agency.  This Christmas Infusion San Marcos provided Christmas gifts for our San Diego families.  Not only does Infusion Church San Marcos support our families over the Christmas holiday they provided our families with all the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner.  It has been awesome seeing Josh and his family over the years continue to be “Hero’s” for our foster youth.

Anasa Hair Studio and Spa provided two of our families with pajamas and gifts for the holidays.  The hair studio went above and beyond to make our families feel appreciated.  This is the second year that Anasa has reached out to provide for our families during the Christmas holiday.
Hector Barragan, a local firefighter, called the Agency stating that his family wanted to make a donation of new shoes.  Hector and his three children dropped off over 50 pairs of new shoes to be distributed to our foster youth.  Now not only do we have nice clothing available for our youth upon placement but brand new tennis shoes.  Hector and his family truly are “Hero’s”.

Handmade quilts, stuffed animals and coloring books were donated to the Agency by Sandy Morris.  The quilts were given to our infant children along with a stuffed animal and the coloring books are being used in our visitation room where families can color together while visiting.  Our families appreciate the hard work that went into each and every quilt.

Kamali’i Foster Family Agency was the proud recipient of a $10,000 grant from the In-N-Out Burger Foundation in December 2017.  The grant will continue to support and enhance the Agency’s H.O.P.E. Independent Living Skills Program in 2018.  The In-N-Out Burger Foundation’s purpose is to assist children who have been victims of child abuse, and to prevent others from suffering a similar fate.  The Foundation supports organizations that provide residential treatment, emergency shelter, foster care, and early intervention for children in need.  We are so honored to have been selected as a recipient and look forward to classes starting in February at the Lake Elsinore Corporate office.

Kamali’i Foster Family would like to welcome our most recently converted and new Resource Families from this past quarter!

Thanks to all the county workers, families and staff that participated in our annual satisfaction survey.  Surveys were conducted in the form of an Employee Satisfaction Survey, Foster Family Survey and Feedback Form, Client Survey and County Stakeholder Survey.  Surveys were conducted to assess overall employee satisfaction as well as service satisfaction from County Social Workers, Certified Foster Parents and Clients.  The surveys are intended to provide the organization with an overview to see areas of strength and areas that are in need of improvement.  The results are being made public for viewing by all participants and public entities that wish to view the written report.

2017 Survey Results Summary

We are so excited for Emilia Lopez Cabrera who was adopted by her forever family on November 28, 2017.  Emilia has been with the Cabrera family since she was 3 days old.  The adoption took just over a year but was well worth the time and efforts by all involved.  It will be a blessing to continue to see Emilia as she grows up in an loving home.
