The Essence of Resource Families

The Essence of Resource FamiliesChildren have no control over their parents’ situation and deserve a safe, stable environment to live in. They need a place where they can be a kid while still having structure and support. Becoming a resource family can allow you to provide children in need with a loving home while they work toward reunification with their birth parents or adoption.

Why Choose to Become a Resource Family?

Resource or foster families take in children in need when they can no longer remain in their current situation. This may be a few days, a few weeks, or a few months. Foster parents play a significant role in helping children work through the challenges they are facing while providing a stable environment with routines and expectations. This will allow children to thrive while waiting for reunification or adoption.

It can be a very rewarding experience to help children navigate difficult situations and give them a space of their own to grow and learn. Resource families create a healthy environment where children are included as part of the family and can experience different opportunities they might not otherwise have. They are able to visit with their birth parents, but they also go on trips and engage in daily routines with their foster family.
